Sourced from Osaka, our papers are made using fibers from local shrubs and trees, hand-screened with colorful repetitive patterns. Tougher than ordinary wood pulp paper, Chiyogami is representative of historic Japanese textile arts from the Edo period.
Discover Origami SetsBorn in the Nishijin district of Kyoto, the son of a painter, Matsuda Tsutomu has spent nearly 60 years mastering the art of bookbinding.
When the demand for traditional kimono textiles shifted, Matsuda-san saw an opportunity to preserve heritage. He began creating covers from vintage kimono fabrics, ensuring that no two journals are exactly alike. When you hold an Ibis journal, you hold a piece of Kyoto's history.
